CSMA General Membership Meeting Sunday June 1, 2003 Newington Hamfest The meeting was called to order by Paul Gibson, N1TUP at 9:40 am. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted. The treasury has a balance of $436.70, no activity since last meeting. John is looking for the ARRL check for the providing the database for the repeater directory. Paul stated that it was probably mailed to Mark Casey the FC. Brendan Price from the ARRL was in attendance. He thanked the organization for its commitment to Connecticut and the job CSMA is doing. Mark Casey the FC was not in attendance due to work conflicts. Paul reported that our database needs accurate longitude and latitudes for all emitters in the State. It was suggested that a GPS unit be used at the base of the emitter tower. Another source of this data is the ULS FCC system for commercial tower locations. NFCC requires the Longitude and Latitude as well as the HAAT. James, KE1AI, stated that to accurately complete the needed coordination paperwork takes about an hour. Paul stated any change in coverage footprint requires new coordination papers to be filed and acted upon. It is suggested that footprints be measured using radio mobile software. It should be noted that Mark Casey prefers all emails sent to him be a txt format. Dana Underhill raised issues concerning adjacent channel interference. A discussion was had on the issue of the 15khz separation and Dana suggested that strict technical standards be adopted and enforced. In addition other issues were discussed needing input from the Frequency Coordinator. Dana will address these issues with Mark as soon as possible. John, W1AN, suggested a couple of items. First that a letter to all emitter operators be sent reminding them any change in emitter operation requires new coordination papers. Secondly, he suggests that we put a brief job description for each elected position on the web site. Officers should email John the information about their position. No other business being discussed the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 am. The next General Membership meeting of CSMA will be at the Nutmeg hamfest in October. Specifics to be communicated closer to the event. Respectfully submitted, John Ahle, Secretary
